Will Run For Waffles

So much to blog about so little time! Mostly because I've been slacking lately. Sorry everyone!

Dinner was shrimp stir fry with brown rice and an incredibly necessary glass of wine.

I may be completely out of the wine loop, but since when do wine bottles have twist tops? It was good though and easy to open so I'm not complaining.

Last night we also got a few goodies.

Smore Caftea and some Highlander Grogg from Open Sky. I was excited!

We also got this...

I'm so excited to try it! On top of all the foodie goodness, we also got a waffle maker from my sister and her family for a wedding gift! I'm telling you, getting married is soooo much better than Christmas.

Now that you're all caught up, on to this morning.  I wanted to play with a new toy. Well it's new to me. Fiance has actually had it for a really long time. He uses it for his ultramarathon training. I just thought it'd be fun to try.

a blurry greyhound in the background. I still can't work it very well, but I decided to go for a walk to try it out. I walked 2.12 miles in 31:16.  I know this is probably old news to a lot of you but it was fun seeing my pace as I was going along and distance. I still can't get it to do much more than time and distance. Apparently it does a lot more. We'll see if I can get any better at it. It was sooo hot and humid outside this morning, I was dripping when I got home. At 8am, it was already too hot for me.

After my walk, fiance and I decided we must have waffles.

mmmmmm! We made the basic waffle recipe from the Cuisinart Waffle Maker book that it came with, but substituted half of the flour for whole wheat flour.

It made a ton of waffles. We're going to have to freeze some. I think we got 20 waffles out of the recipe. I don't think the recipes in that book are made for families of 2. Fair warning. We knew it was a lot when we were making it, but we didn't realize it was that much!

Waffles with S'more Caftea! On the waffle recipe: I probably would have added some cinnamon and vanilla. They were pretty bland. I added a tbsp of chia seeds to my batter when I put it in and that was a great idea. It didn't change the taste a whole lot, but got in a little extra nutrients.

The Caftea is amazing! I am going to make iced coffee for tomorrow. It's not too sweet. It has a great aroma. The taste is pretty subtle, not too overwhelming at all. Overall, I was very impressed. A successful breakfast. I could only manage to eat about 1 of the 4 waffles. I opted for a banana instead of any more waffle. More for tomorrow...and the next day...and the day after that. :)

Today the plan is to stay cool. Tonight is date night so I'm very excited :) We're going to see Inception and go to a touristy beach restaurant that we try to avoid in the summer, but every now and then it's fun to go.

I hope everyone has a great Saturday! What's your favorite activity to do on Saturday morning?
