I did it! I ate oats!

And I liked it!

This is a big step for me! I have tried to like oatmeal so much. I know it's good for me and I WANT to like oatmeal, but I just haven't liked it. Maybe because it's hot or the texture, I'm not sure, but either way, despite many many attempts, I don't eat it very often. I stick with my cereal.

I do like the fruity instant oatmeal packages, but those have too much sugar, so I'm convinced to find a way to like plain oats, but it might take some transitioning.

So after a failed attempt, once again, at oatmeal last week, I scoured the internet for ideas to make oatmeal more appealing. Living in Florida, hot anything is completely out of the question this time of year, so I opted to try some overnight oats!

The fixins:

My pretty oatmeal last night!
1/4 cup oats-about 40 calories
1/4 cup almond breeze-30 calories
a sprinkle of goji berries-we'll give that about 30 or 40 more calories

Let sit overnight in fridge
In the morning I added some walnuts, tsp brown sugar, tsp of coconut butter, and a big handful of blueberries.

Overal, I'd say the breakfast was under 200 calories. I ate about 3/4 of it, before I just didn't want it anymore, so I consider that a success
(Normally I eat 3 bites and I'm just done, I don't want anymore, can't stand the sight of it for another second)

The results:

yumm!! I think I'm much more of a fan of cold oatmeal! Maybe it's just a summer thing, or maybe because I'm mildly obsessed with cereal, so cold food is just comfort for me. But either way, I'm glad I found something I like and it's so easy to do in the morning because it's almost all done by then!

Along with a cup of iced coffee with some skim milk,
My French press is my new best friend. I had to take this picture about 10 times because it was so hot and humid this morning, the lense was fogging over. Oh the joys of Florida living.

I'm excited to try my overnight oats again soon! Happy Friday everyone!
