Hamburgers on the mind

I love hamburgers. Love love love. Every now and then, nothing beats a burger and fries. I think that might be one of the hardest things for me to say no to. I haven't been confronted with my dear friend the hamburger for awhile, so I haven't had to give him the bad news that I really shouldn't eat him anymore. If anything made me not want to eat my dear mr. hamburger, it would be this article

Denny’s Smokin’ Q Three Pack
2,020 calories
110 g fat (22 g saturated, 3 g trans)
3,570 mg sodium

I'm happy to say I have never eaten this hamburger or any of the hamburgers on the list actually! But I'd be interested to see what the nutrional info for a burger at one of our favorite restaurants McGuire's Irish Pub. They're not the kind of place that puts nutritional information on their website. They do have a GREAT St. Patrick's Day 5k though that I have ran in the past 2 years! So it balances out right? Just humor me and agree. I won't tell you that there is beer, irish wakes, and some killer soup at the finish line and half the reason to run is for the food at the end. That would not help my argument at all I'm sure. Moving on!
I'm a big fan of making my own burgers though. We use lean ground beef, garlic, worcestershire sauce and cayenne pepper for the fiance (he likes things with a lot of kick!). We always add lots of veggies and usually use an Arnold Sandwich Thin instead of buns. Also a really great way to have a burger is with some sauteed onions and a sprinkle of feta or goat cheese. Now I'm craving a hamburger. Oh great!

We'll see what I manage to cook up for dinner....we do have some ground beef in the freezer...hmm...

I'm on a mission to use up all the random food in the house and avoid grocery shopping for the next 2 weeks. I'll see if I can accomplish that with still eating well! I'll be sure to share any random concoctions I come up with along the way.
